Review of The Expendables 2 (2012) by Will L — 27 Apr 2014

The best way to enjoy this movie is to set your brain to simmer. Don't set out thinking that you'll get Marlon Brando caliber performances and this can be fun ride. This film, with essentially every action movie star ever, becomes a quest for revenge after *spoiler alert* their youngest member is killed. Along the way they encounter plenty of bad guys and dispatch them with video game like ease. The acting is subtle and heartfelt, just kidding. Its over the top and ridiculous. The banter between some particular characters where they rehash old movie quotes from some of their notable films i.e. ,"I'll be back," is funny at first, but happens so often that it starts to become just plain cheese.

If cheese and clichà (C)d lines is your thing however this movie may be for you. There is are some exciting action scenes but I feel like the Indonesian film "The Raid: Redemption" ruined all action movies for me for the rest of my life.
