Review of The Expendables 2 (2012) by Aodhan R — 03 Jan 2015
Another great action packed blockbuster hit with the ensemble cast of the Hollywood action movie genre. It's made with fast editing for the firefight moments, and even though it looks noticeably fake it's not less enjoyable. It's the same sort of editing technique that was previously used in the first 'Expendables' and also the 2008 'Rambo' movie.
The Expendables 2 is a far greater sequel and better movie than the last Expendables. It's loaded with more intense and brilliant action moments, and has new additional cast members that weren't in the previous one, as well as the old members. I love how they've expanded Arnie's role in the movie and Bruce Willis's role as well. Two legendary action stars whose roles were expanded for the amazing final firefight.
Downsides: the story seems a bit short and the main villain, played by Jean-Claude Van Damme, was barely in the movie and was a rather underdeveloped badie. It's nothing to leave the movie in shame, and there's a great man to man fight between Sylvester Stallone and Van Damme towards the end, amidst the chaotic firefight battle.
Very good sequel, nice casting and fairly good dialogue: a lot of Hollywood action movies are made with ridiculous and appalling dialogue, but thankfully this movie is an exception for once.
