Review of The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) by Cm K — 27 Apr 2012
Loosely based on the real-life case of Anneliese Michel in 1978, EOER is a solid if not particularly dramatic film. The [mostly] courtroom drama doesn't try to take sides or really manipulate its audience into thinking one way or the other.
it's more of a think-piece, like 2011's A Dangerous Method. I liked that EOER touches on the faith-doubt debate (the debate forms much of this movie, but it's Hollwyood, so how deep can it really go?).
Definitely purchasing & using to teach rhetoric, and I'd recommend it as a tool for any rhetoric-based writing teacher.
