Review of The Exodus Decoded (2006) by Denise H — 01 Feb 2011
The special effects were nicely done but the scientific work necessary to accurately document these "theories" was completely lacking from this production. And I noticed a distinct "slant" against the Egyptian government and for the Christian religion. I'm not denying that the events in the Bible regarding the Exodus occurred, but I didn't see proof positive that these events were "miracles" produced by an all powerful deity. Rather I saw catastrophic events that occur in nature all the time...earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, poisoned water, disease caused by poisoned or corrupted water, etc. Believing that a specific entity deliberately caused each occurrence in order to get a group of people released from slavery in Egypt is like saying that Katrina was God's way of trying to get New Orleans residents' attention. It was caused by natural occurrences--hurricane winds and broken earthen dams.
A better movie is "Rameses: Wrath of God or Man?" At least in that show we see real forensic work, not some goofy guy wandering around the Cairo Museum and rifling among artifacts there like he knows what he's doing!
