Review of The Execution of P (2009) by Mike M — 20 Sep 2009
Wow, I didn't know that Michael J. Fox is working as a cameraman nowadays! I mean, there can't be any other reason for the constantly shaking camera. There's NOT A SINGLE STEADY SHOT IN THE ENTIRE FILM. Every single scene in this film is shot with a wobbly handheld camera, and it's just purely annoying. On top of that, most of the night scenes are not shot with proper lighting, so most of the night scenes are just too dark to figure out what's happening or who's talking to who.
So what about the plot? First 30 minutes there's just random stuff happening, not relating to anything, then we get 30 minutes of sitting in a van and driving around, 30 minutes of nasty stuff happening and more driving around and then the grand finale: 15 minutes of random stuff happening (like a cabdriver changing a tire, oh wow).
And this film actually won prices in Cannes. I'm speechless.
Do yourself a favour and avoid this.
