Review of The Ex (1996) by Andy N — 06 Aug 2008
This movie had some potential, both Braff and Bateman are really cool comedic actors in my book and their strengths are underused here. Braff's character goes from being a nice guy you can root for to being a semi desperate ass hole while Bateman never changes.
Bateman's unchanging wouldn't be so bad if the material he was given were better, but unfortunately all these people wanted from Bateman was his ability to just keep talking and keep the one joke that's been said running and when the most of the jokes are misses-it's pretty sad.
All in all I wouldn't say this is a terrible movie and there might be some people who'll find some enjoyment in it, but for the most part I'd recommend staying away from this movie unless you can see it for free that way there's no consequences on your wallet.
