One of, if not the Greatest Horror Movie of all time! Just ask Stephen King, he knows a thing or two about bringing the scary. Shot on the lowest of budgets by a group of college kids, EVIL DEAD has become the king of Cult Classics right behind the Queen, Rocky Horror Picture Show of course.
The film showcases a few horror movie firsts that have since become staples of the genre. Yeah the acting isn't that great, except for the lead of course. Ash becomes somewhat of John McClaine type hero throughout the series but it's fun to watch him here as kind of the coward of the group.
A coward forced to become a hero. There are some very scary moments in this flick as well as outright creepiness achieved through some fantastic make up, and some eerie music by XENA and HERCULES composer Joseph Lo Duca.
Not quite as funny as it's sequel but there are some genuine laughs as well as some unintentional ones. Oh, did I mention those college kids were producer Rob Tapert, Superstar Director Sam Raimi and the greatest B-Movie actor ever, Bruce Campbell.
