Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Akira J — 31 Oct 2016
One dimensional characters, bad to ok acting. This movie thinks it can scare us by showing us either nothing or inanimate objects moving so long as there is a dramatic score, instead it comes across as not trying.
It's interesting when the possessed people attack, but due to the cheesy makeup, over acting and comical writing it comes across as goofy. It gets a bit more interesting when Ash has to survive on his own, but it's still boring at this point.
The gore effects range from bad to ok in this. Honestly I thought this was gonna be a nice survivalist zombie horror, instead it was more like those stupid ghost horror movies that we see too much of these days.
