Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Chad H — 06 Apr 2013
What can I possibly say about this masterpiece? Well for starters this is a must see for any horror fan or zombie or demon fan. This movie just off the wall with effects and atmosphere that is sure to satisfy walks of all ages.
There are very few movies who can create a strong balance of horror, comedy, atmosphere, and creative camera angles. The whole plot revolves around a book of the dead which is bound in human flesh and written in human blood, which has the power to summon all sorts of wild crazy monsters.
Despite being an independent film, it really is made quite well. It relies very heavily on atmosphere and chills to really move everything along. The scenes of dismemberment are just off the wall and completely insane.
The creature effects are done quite well even and the stop motion at the end is just incredible. Bruce Campbell plays the character of Ash, who goes up to a cabin in the woods with his friends and girlfriend to get away from it all.
I don't really want to give much away but the action definitely picks up fast. I recommend this without a doubt to any horror fan, seriously check it out.
