It feels a little slow despite only an hour and a half running time, its characters aren't interesting, and it can feel overly cruel in moments, but Evil Dead does an excellent job of being terrifying, and funny with its brilliantly paced scares, excellently disgusting make-up and gore effects, and darkly humorous dialogue.
