Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Evan J — 14 May 2013

I usually avoid all old school horror movies. I have nothing against old movies, some of my favorite movies of all time were made in the 70s-90s. But when it comes to horror movies during that time, I'm just not a fan.

I wanted to see this before I see the new Evil Dead when that comes out in a few days. This movie wasn't bad and I'm sure for its time it was great and very scary. Had I seen this in 1981 or around that time, I'm sure I would have been pretty scared.

Seeing this in 2013 it was far from scary and pretty cheesy, but that's to be expected when watching it in current time. However, it is one of the better old time horror movies I've seen. Despite my negative comments I still give it a 4/5; simply because it is one of the better old time horror movies that I have seen.

Probably the best. When watching I tried to ignore all new horror movie technology I've seen. If I would have seen this in the 80s, I could see myself giving it a 5/5. I am extremely excited for the new one! Heck this is even better than most of the horror crap they make now a days.
