Delightfully combining an over the top gore fest with supernatural creepy crawlies and a richly dark comic vibe, "The Evil Dead" not only proved Sam Raimi's finesse as a filmmaker but also sets it's foot in the ground as one of the most distinctly original and enjoyable horror romps of all time.
