Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Jonathan V — 12 Jul 2013
Great low-budget horror film. Remember, it was done on a very low budget. Lots of audacity here, with effects that jump so far past the line of tastefulness as to set a whole new standard. They may look hokey, but what they attempt to depict still can make you wonder about the mind of creator Sam Raimi.
Wow, though, as he demonstrates an extraordinary visual sensibility. The use of the camera is deft. Thorough romp.
