Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Alex F — 28 Aug 2013
The Evil Dead features everything that you would expect from a classic horror film. Bad acting, superb amounts of gore alongside perfectly timed jump scares. Raimi's conduction of the film provides us with a story which keeps moving while turning up the gore levels.
No point in this film is boring, the atmosphere is terrifying up until the end. Some seems will cause the most fearless of people to turn their heads. As for the scares, they are executed with precision and avoid common horror clichés.
The film also shows that a high budget is not required to produce what is now a renowned classic. Bravo Rami, for not only creating this classic, but for also creating what I believe is one of the greatest horror films to date.
