Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Lovro H — 16 Nov 2015
My full opinion: Sam Raimi's debut film, The Evil Dead, is a great low-budget horror film with an amount of laughs, and scariness. --Wait a second! Is that my true opinion of The Evil Dead? No. That's what other people thought of The Evil Dead.
From my experience, I had more scariness than laughs throughout this whole film. There have been a few chuckles that I had from its silly script. The visuals and the gory effects are all over the place.
It's quite extreme, and cheaply made, but it also does it in a way that it's pretty slapstick, and of course, scary. There we're a lot of boo moments I had, and the way how the camera moves around, like moving towards the woods, or anywhere, it felt scary, to me.
I don't want to go too far saying that I really like it as much as everybody did, but for what it is, I had a good time with it. 3/4.
