True horror devotion and ambition which is something that rarely exists this day and age. It will be interesting to see where the remake takes the series but for the fans it all begins here. Sam raimi and the camera just breath life into this film.
Bruce Campbell the cult favourite is brilliant in the lead and creates a character who would become just as infamous as the series. The characters are all well cast considering the budget and throw themselves quite literally into the dirt.
Writing and directing Sam raimi and brother create a unique saga that begins with a bang. The sweeping camera feels like a character and its movement pioneered a new fascination for film buffs. You clearly feel the love for this film to create something new and atmospheric. A film with a tree raping is something that was obviously not going to be thought of with all the studio offerings. A labour of love and cult following justly followed. The cabin in the woods now had a genre defining film to spear head it. Only a film called cabin in the woods would resurrect a tired genre. All you have to remember is that this film is the best of its type till this day.
