Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Tatsuhito K — 03 Jan 2016
This is one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen. I've heard so many great things about The Evil Dead; everybody told me how influential this is and how it set the standard for the modern horror films.
Although I admire Raimi's DIY style and there are a couple of cool moments, I found the entire thing rather joyless The more the film progressed, the more disappointing it became. It went from really cool to freaky to plain disgusting.
I didn't think it was particularly funny, and it just turned into a mindless gorefest. If I were to describe this movie in one word, it would be: Ew. This is one of the most overrated films ever made in history of cinema.
Very disappointing.
