Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Will L — 05 Jan 2016
This is definitely one of the strongest directorial debuts of all time. 'The Evil Dead' is stylish, incredibly gruesome, and enjoyable from start to finish, and it has lots of fun subverting by-the-numbers horror using black humor and Sam Raimi's energetic direction.
It doesn't hesitate to go for the absurd, and that's commendable in any genre, horror in particular.
