Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Peter K — 28 Feb 2016
Sam Raimi's Evil Dead is the genre defining cult classic horror movie everyone should witness. When hero Ash Williams and friends vacation out in an abandoned cabin, the trip turns sour when the group stumbles across a tape that summons evil demons via the Book of the Dead.
When all Ash's friends become possessed, the comedic, yet grisly carnage unfolds. With a small production value, the shaky dramatic chases and spontaneous zoom-ins from the iconic 16mm camera is what captures the raw suspense.
Gruesome dismemberment, stop motion animation, and buckets of dripping blood create a spectacular horror show for future generations to enjoy.
