Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Shaun W — 09 Jun 2017
Two hours of practical effects and Liberal use tomato sauce/red water...I saw this after the remake and can't give it any more praise then that, I simply can't see this film through the eyes of people who saw it then.
It does not hold up, it is entirely reliant on it's practical effects...There are hints that some kind of story is in there somewhere...maybe characters we care about with development...but again it all get's thrown into the back seat so the director can play with effects that were never going to age well.
