You can't fault Denzel for wanting to play a role he likes, but I wonder if he had a conversation with the director when Fuqua told him: "I'm going to totally rip off the late Tony Scott." The Equalizer seems like a prequel to Man on Fire, and one that should have stayed on the shelves.
