The Equalizer 2 provides a solid experience. The directing was excellent - a certain scene later on displayed a mastery of camera angles, cuts, and intensity of action in a controlled manner, rather than the over-the-top, tiring trend of today. Some have already mentioned that the plot has issues - it is not focused enough, at least in the first half of the movie. Possibly too slow of a buildup towards the third act. However, I think that does not detract much from the experience. It does allow for character development, and gradual introduction of personalities, especially for viewers who did not watch the first film.
Denzel Washington's acting easily carries the film. The villains were forgettable, unfortunately. I also found the scene with the "office rapists" that can be seen in the trailer terribly contrived and ill-convincing.
Despite it all, if you want some solid, mature action, and a likable main character, this film is a worthy watch.
