Review of The Equalizer 2 (2018) by Yash B — 22 Jul 2018
I think fans of the first "Equalizer" movie will like this movie. I remember I thought the first was alright and I had similar thoughts about this one. When the action scenes are happening they are enjoyable and entertainingly violent.
However, there are issues in the movie that need to be pointed out. The first is that there are just too many subplots in the movie. I think a straightforward and shorter movie might have been a better fit for this type of movie.
I also thought the movie has some great moments in the beginning but then it slows down until the final act. The shining light in the movie is having a capable actor like Denzel Washington in the leading role.
He's still one of the great actors in my books and his screen presence is easily the most effective part of the movie. Overall, its one of the weaker movies to come out this summer, but it has some enjoyable moments and is fine for a one time watch.
