A weird movie. A love letter to revenge and vigilante porn enthusiasts, endorsed by one of America's greatest actors. Denzel Washington is fully credible as a middle-aged (really, older) former special agent, leveling the playing field by beating the tar out of everyone from deadbeat dads, to gang members to rich frat boys.
Watching the master bend a Steven Seagal movie into something with a queasy sense of reality will feed your bloodlust, but nauseate your conscience. A fascinating juxtaposition of theatrical prowess and pulp shoddiness on a landscape of whys and what fors?
