The English patient is a well directed and satisfying film to watch. Though some viewers may jump to the conclusion that this is simply a hollywood romantised "lawrence of arabia", it is so much more to it than that (Though Lawrence of arabia is no less than a masterpiece).
But anyway, the english patient delivers the viewer into the life of count laszlo amashi through the use of flashbacks, this was done with great fluidity and storytelling which hints to why it won best editing oscar.
however when I first watched this, I got emotionally involved with the main protagonist and his romantic affair with kirsten-scott thomas, but after the second viewing, I felt less attached and more interested into the sub-plot of juliette binoche's character.
So I think this is a really well done film and worthy of a definate watch by anyone. Even for the less romantically inclined.
