Review of The English Patient (1996) by Josh C — 16 Feb 2009
Amazing film. The cinematography is just beautiful, especially the fly-overs. It combines love, war and redemption. In fact it is like an equally good Atonement made a decade before the later. The acting is amazing, but that is a given considering it stars Ralph Fiennes as well as feature Wilem Dafoe and Kristen Scott Thomas.
Juliette Binoche and Naveen Andrews are powerful as relative young actors for when this came out. Colin Firth also does a solid job in his smaller screen time. One thing that stood out for me is the incredible job by makeup at transforming Fiennes chracter into a burn victim.
It is spot on. Just a phenominal movie.
