Review of The English Patient (1996) by Doita D — 31 Aug 2009
Not one of my sort of films. I don't understand the loosely termed â??women's filmsâ??! While English Patient has some amazing settings and visuals of desert and Italian vineyards, the characterisation and plot swings uneasily around; once again seemingly throwing in romantic intrigue from absolutely nowhere just to progress/lengthen the story.
But the story of a nameless pilot who is found suffering from amnesia, only to slowly remember an unpleasant and troubled past through the care of an army nurse, is compelling.
