Review of The English Patient (1996) by Alex T — 28 Jul 2010
I had to see this film twice to appreciate more about it than just Ralph Fiennes, and to find that it was indeed worthy of the Oscars(although I believe Ralph and Kristen Scott Thomas were the actors that deserved 'em).
It was sweet, and sad, and moving, and well told all around. The scenery and costuming was brilliant, and the cinematography and dialogue fit perfectly with the musical score. I didn't see anything particularly special about Juliette Binoche, although she did her part well, but I liked Kristen Scott Thomas more and more as the film went on.
Ralph's character was hard to read for a while, but eventually won over my heart(and many other womens' too, I'm sure). A film I'd love to own.
