Review of The English Patient (1996) by Jeff B — 24 Feb 2011
Long and drawn out, but not utterly devoid of interesting stuff. The flashbacks are sometimes good, but sometimes annoying to the nth degree because of how much melodramatic acting is involved. I thought Juliette Binoche was excellent, as usual, but Ralph Fiennes and Willem Dafoe overacted for most of the film.
The story was fairly banal, especially for how long this film lasts. There's not really a lot of action, but the characters are--again--somewhat interesting.
