Review of The English Patient (1996) by Joe H — 18 Feb 2015
They say love is blind. If The English Patient is correct, love is also irresponsible, inconsiderate, treasonous, and yes, even cold-blooded murder. To call this movie insubstantial doesn't do its failure justice.
It's a dud, a time waster, an exhaustive slog through the lives of unsympathetic, unpleasant egotists. Spending two and a half hours with these characters, this self-effacing self-seriousness, this unbearably trite filler dialogue; it's like an endless trek through the desert.
So much hot air.
