Review of The Enforcer (1976) by Jim W — 29 Jun 2009
Uh-oh.
Is the Dirty Harry series starting to slip? In the third installment of the series Clint is still doing all the right things as Hary Callahan but problems start to arise in the storyline.
While it's still a pretty simple story of terrorists kidnapping a mayor, demanding cash and randomly killing innocents, the other actors don't seem to be in the same movie as Clint. Everytime he kicks it into Billy badass, there's either a lame joke, lame acting or just plain lame happenings.
Tyne Daly did an okay enough job as Harry's new green partner, but again when she stands beside Clint belligerent is the best word to describe her. DeVeren Bookwalter showed flashes of greatness but it all came to pass with the random going-ons of the film. I hope in the next one the series sticks to what it was good at: Everyone telling Harry no, and doubting him. Harry saying Fuck the World and bashing them out with his own brand of violence. I still love the series, this (hopefully) is just a bump in the road.
