Review of The Enforcer (1976) by Quinn B — 20 Jun 2011
I really don't know what happened with this film. The first two started off so strong, and then to me this one just flopped. Of course it isn't a bad movie, as long as it has Eastwood in it, it deserves a watch. But honestly, this film did not feel like a Dirty Harry movie. The first showed balls, and grit. This one didn't really have any of that. There was limited action, and the acting besides Eastwood was not up to par.
The Enforcer follows Harry Callahan, now with a new woman partner. They have to stop a group of "terrorists", who call themselves for the people. This group steals a bunch of weapons from a warehouse, and devise a plan to kidnap the mayor of the city. Once they kidnap him, Harry must figure a way to save him, with the help of his partner.
Now I was really looking forward to this, since I really enjoyed the first 2. But I saw right from the start, it just wasn't going to live up to the first 2.
What I find weird is that the first 2 films had such an impact on films back then, and then this one feels like it was made before them.
The Enforcer isn't a bad movie, but it isn't a very good one either. A huge set back from the original 2. I hope that the next 2 don't dissapoint me like this one did.
My rating is.
60%.
