Review of The Empire Strikes Back (1980) by Bryant B — 26 Dec 2015
A big improvement on the first one. Ford's Han Solo is given a much bigger part this time around and his storyline along with Leia's is the best one as they escape Vader's clutches and meet up with Solo's old friend Lando played exceptionally well by Billy Dee Williams.
Unfortunately, annoying C3PO is along for the ride as well. One thing I enjoyed about this film is that it didn't focus on Luke as much as the last one. This ultimately helps the film as Luke is clearly the least likable of the three leads.
The script was much better in this film than the last which humanized the characters a little more making them interesting. This was probably because George Lucas was least involved with the making of this movie.
Hopefully all future Star Wars additions will be like the Empire Strikes Back.
