Review of The Empire Strikes Back (1980) by Brandon B — 14 May 2015
Delving deeper into Lucas' mythos, Empire manages to do the nearly impossible: be a better film than the original. It's darker, [ironically] funnier, and the the stakes are much higher for all the characters.
Empire attempts to develop our heroes (and villains) on a more personal level, and the struggle these characters face (individually and together) makes this perhaps the best Star Wars film. Empire is emotional and genuinely heartwarming (and also heartbreaking).
It is a superior Star Wars entry and an example of how to do a movie sequel right.
