Review of The Empire Strikes Back (1980) by Lance B — 29 Jul 2015
This movie has it all. It has more mystery than the original Star Wars, Vader is at his strongest, Luke is at his most vulnerable, Yoda is introduced, there is an interesting romance between two of the main characters, the group separates making them weaker, a fan favorite in Boba Fett is introduced, and it includes arguably the greatest plot twist in the history of movies.
The story seems like a small spec in the grand scheme of things. The settings in this movie are beautiful. In my opinion, the settings in this movie are the best in the entire Star Wars series. Cloud City is the greatest setting that George Lucas has ever come up with.
The climax in this film is the highest of all the Star Wars movies. There is so much at stake. No moment in this film is wasted. That's why it's my favorite film of all time.
