Review of The Empire Strikes Back (1980) by Shane D — 08 Nov 2015
I don't think any other single film (outside of Return Of The Jedi) brings back such strong nostalgic feelings as this does. In the lead-up to the new trilogy of films it felt timely to revisit Empire - which unlike any other Star Wars film (especially the prequels) is as well written as it is fun.
Ford and Fisher are the reason why this is considered the best of the six films - their chemistry is on point here. It's unbeatable stuff. Update: re-watching the original pre-special edition version left me feeling as if this was the only one of the original trilogy that was best served with the tinkering from Lucas.
The changes to the other two are problematic to say the least.
