Review of The Empire Strikes Back (1980) by Daniel C — 04 Dec 2015
Darth Vader tries to lure Luke to the Dark Side.
The follow up to the popular space fantasy, Empire Strikes Back is long regarded as the perfect sequel and for me, this still stands as the best of the Star Wars movies. Darth Vader leads the Empire on a search for Luke Skywalker and the Rebels across the galaxy and eventually finds their hidden base on Hoth - cue an epic battle in snow as the Rebels flee.
Luke must learn the ways of the force on an isolated planet with Jedi Master Yoda while Leia, Han and the others try to avoid imperial capture. Just when things look to be going so well, they go very bad.
The ending of this film changed the way sequels would be regarded I think. There's very little to hope for at the end as the Empire seems to have the upper hand and our heroes are less triumphant.
Awesome!
