Review of The Emperor's New Groove (2000) by Kevin L — 19 Oct 2011

THE GOOD.

- Hilarious old-school cartoon comedy, that relies on the personality of the characters rather than pop culture humor like Hercules does. This is my kinda humor, I laughed more here than all the Disney movies I've seen combined!

- Puts more emphasis on story and character development than epic special effects.

- Every single person in the cast is likeable, memorable and very well voiced. Yzma is especially top-notch, and gives me Cruella vibes.

- I loved how they took their time developing the friendship between Kuzco and Pancha â?? there's something human about it, which is terribly hard to do in a world of humor.

- Kronk is one of the best comic reliefs I've seen from Disney.

- Rare mom sighting! And pregnant too! I think she may be the only pregnant character in Disney animated history!

- Brimming with energy. Great chase scene at the end.

- 4th wall breaking is fun yet not overdone.

- Excellent music. Loved the "Perfect World" opener. Tom Jones ftw!

THE BAD.

Nothing bad? Whoa. Alright, if I want to be reeeeally picky, I think they should've held the last minute of the film to till the end of the credits, but otherwise it was alright and not too abrupt.

THE INTERESTING.

Disney was originally going to make this movie a serious drama. I'm so glad they changed their minds!
