Review of The Emperor's New Groove (2000) by Daniel V — 20 Jan 2014
One of the funnier and more endearing of Disney's post Fairy Tale epic era. After Tarzan, they did higher concept less musically type family flicks. This and Lilo and Stitch being the highlights, Treasure Planet and Atlantis being the lowlights.
David Spade is perfect voice actor to play a spoiled rich brat well because he's been making lots of money being just that for the last 20 years. John Goodman as his good hearted companion is also perfect because Goodman can do anything.
But the best part of this animated gem, Patrick Warburton's henchman Kronk. He and Eartha Kitt are two of the funniest villains Disney has ever produced. I'm very excited Frozen is a huge hit, that with coupled with Tangled's success, insures Disney has returned to what they do best, however they should definitely keep working with the talented people who gave the Emperor a new Groove.
