Review of The Emperor's New Groove (2000) by Rachel H — 25 Oct 2010

This is a great film in it's lack of ambition. Unlike certain movies, it's not trying to be the greatest kids movie of all time, but it ends up being one of my personal favourite kids movies of all time.

It is quite funny with great vocal performances by David Spade, Patrick Warburton, John Goodman, and the late great Eartha Kitt. Also, Yzma (Eartha Kitt) is quite possibly the funniest disney villain ever.

I saw this in the theatres when I was 8. I loved it then, and I still love it now. It's one of the rare kids movies that is simply unforgettable and will remain fairly immortal. I just love that it struck a balance of history, heart, and silliness.

All in all, a good film, but no masterpiece.
