Review of The Emperor's New Groove (2000) by Mitch M — 07 Feb 2011
The Emperor's New Groove is a downright hilarious, fun to watch, heartwarming movie that I just loved. This is one of my favorite comedies of all time. The first 20 mins dont really have much to laugh at, but when the laughs hit.. they hit hard! I mean this has to be some of the more intellgent humor out there. David Spade is great as the leading role and really brings Kuzko to life. It often times has some humor that I find a bit much for a film aimed for kids. But who cares? This film was a ride!
The movie is about Kuzko, a selfish emperor who only relies on himself. He has no true friends whatsoever. He brings in Patcha (a villager from the town Kuzko rules) to see where he should build his new condo/swimming pool/royal palace, and it turns out he is building it right on Patcha's home. Kuzko also fires his secretary Eezma for always trying to hog the throne. A jealous Eezma hatches a plan with her assistant Kronk, where she will kill Kuzko and take the throne for herself. They decide to posion him at a dinner party, but instead of poision, Kronk feeds him with llama potion. Kuzko, now a llama, is ordered by eezma to be thrown off the palace, but a mistakes take place and Kuzko accidently ends up in Patcha's hut. Now he and Patcha must go through a hilarioous journey to get back home.
Well I would recommend the Emperor's New Groove to anyone. Its so very funny and well thought out.
It gets a masterpiece award of a 10/10.
