Review of The Emperor's New Clothes (2015) by Will T — 06 May 2015
Russell Brand doesn't say no to drugs and if the first few minutes of this "documentary" are any indication, he doesn't do irony either. I don't pay much attention to UK politics but I have enough British friends in my Facebook friendslist to know what's going on over there, and so it didn't take long for me to begin rolling my eyes at Brand telling us about how life in the UK is so unfair for the working class. I fully support the working class with every fibre of my being, but this whole film was one aching experience.
Highlights include when Brand talks to a single mother who shares with us a hard reality about being a single mother who works yet still relies on tax benefits and Russ treats it like it's some alien iconcept that hasn't happened yet. Then my favourite part, when he compares the Lehman brothers fiasco with the 2011 London riots. Both fiascos take too long for me to describe but go look up both and you'll understand why such a comparison is nonsensical.
Just ridiculous and mind you this is coming from a middle class twit who has never spent even a milisecond in the real world. He can bitch to us about how the tax is too goddamn expensive for him to live in the UK but give us a break, Rusty. You can probably pay for all that tax with the change from between your fucking couch cushions. To think I had any respect for him. Goodbye Rusty, please tell your ex wife I said hi next time you bump into her after a sunbathing session in the back yard of your LA mansion.
