Review of The Emperor's Naked Army Marches On (1987) by Private U — 28 Aug 2007
I feel that this is a documentary that does not receive the attention that it deserves. I have over-analyzed it far beyond necessity by now, but with good reason. It's one of the few films or documentaries that I've seen that so overtly questions Japanese wartime responsibility, and does so by following such an interesting (if psychotic) character.
Hara Kazuo's approach is also so unconventional, especially by standards of 20 years ago.
