The Emoji Movie had the potential to be a critical observation of today's socially-deprived youth and their increasing inability to communicate with each other without the medium of cellphones and social media applications.
Instead it is a poor and glaringly obvious imitation of Disney's Wreck it Ralph and Inside Out, manufactured to exploit the fad of emojis to put prepubescent butts in seats at movie theaters to watch literal poop personified, copying the character formula of the Lego Movie, and shoehorned-in stale and cringy jokes.
