Review of The Elephant Man (1980) by Jimmy R — 04 Jan 2011
A very emotional movie that demands viewing. "The Elephant Man" is a film that tells a story of abuse and comfort. Throughout the film, a disfigured man is mistreated. But behind his monstrous appearance, lies a person of intelligence and sensitivity.
And that is one of the big reasons why I like this film a lot, because it's a movie about comfort. It shows a man who is being abused and tortured and begins to loose his sense of hope. But soon begins to regain his hope by the comfort of his new friend Frederick Treves who is portrayed by Anthony Hopkins.
The cast did a phenomenal job, especially Hopkins and of course John Hurt as John Merrick. Overall, this is a must see movie...
