Elephant Man is a timeless classic because of David Lynch behind the camera. He doesn't fluff up the story with sentimentalism. At times Lynch even treats it like a horror story. John Hurt is stellar.
He manages to hit every note right as John Merrick. If this film doesn't move you then I don't want to know you!
