Review of The Eiger Sanction (1975) by Mike P — 15 May 2009
The Eiger Sanction is kind of like Eastwoods attempt at doing his own James Bond kind of thing. It has a ton going for it. Namely the visuals. Eastwoods direction is incredible. I loved the whole Dragon stuff.
But the film really falls apart in the last third. Its like somebody spilled paint on the only script being used and they just improvised the last act. Up until that though I was loving what I was seeing. The dialogue is a riot and the mountain climbing scenes are incredible. Namely the ones were Eastwood is traing with George Kennedy and you see its really Eastwood doing the climbing.
Fun and cool looking but flawed.
