Review of The Education of Charlie Banks (2007) by Bryan J — 21 Sep 2009
Jisee Eisenberg reminds of a gentler, younger Woody Allen without the cockiness. Since he's such an appealing actor, I wanted to like this movie but it felt flat. It has some "highs"--a teenager trying to get along by befriending a bully and in his quest for personal identification.
However, there's too many dull scenes. Jason Ritter wasn't so impressive in his fight scenes and seems too sensitive for the bully role. Eva Amurri wasn't striking enough as the girl everyone wants.
Not a terrible movie since it's directed by Fred Durst in a caring manner, you want to like the characters. But, a boring movie doesn't deserve much love.
