Review of The Education of Charlie Banks (2007) by Scot C — 07 Jun 2011
A good film for a first time director. And that first time director being the lead singer of Limp Bizkit, Fred Durst. It's a solid story, and though the screenplay is good, its just not solid enough.
And maybe a more experienced director could have taken this to another level, which it felt like it could go. It is somewhat slow paced, which is not a problem but it needed just another level or two to make it just that much more engaging.
The lead character guides this story well, which is a strong point, and Jesse Eisenberg does a solid job. I just feel that Jason Ritter was mis cast. He's a good actor, and gives a good performance, but not quite right for this role.
Otherwise its a film that's worth watching.
