Review of The Edge of Seventeen (2016) by Kimberly A — 19 Nov 2016
I was expecting to laugh my way through this "teen movie" but ended up identifying with Nadine and her heartbreak, crying with her in her moments, and laughing at what came out of her mouth at the same time.
Hailee Steinfeld is definitely here to stay and I absolutely adored her in this movie! Woody Harrelson provides some laughs as well and Kyra Sedgewick is playing the widow "I have no idea what to do with myself, let alone my daughter who lost her dad" role very well.
This movie left me remembering my own experiences in high school, and although it was updated with the cell phones and texting, it still rang true and Steinfeld did this role brilliantly. I highly recommend this to anyone, as this is not your "teen movie" but something that anyone can appreciate.
I would see this again in the theater in a second, and I've never said that about any other movie. Highly recommended! You won't regret it!
